Tornadoes spotted over the weekend in Nebraska
Posted: 04/16/12 08:16 At least three tornadoes have been confirmed in the storm outbreak that affected Nebraska over the weekend. Jermey Wesley with the National Weather service came together for what was an entire day of severe weather. The National Weather Service office in Hastings says small tornadoes touched down Saturday northeast of Oxford in Harlan County, west of Byron in Nuckolls County and east of Deshler in Thayer County. There was little to no damage from twisters, which had wind speeds estimated at 65 mph. Unconfirmed tornadoes have been reported near Cook and North Platte. Those areas sustained damage to farm outbuildings and trees. Wesley said warnings and watches were issued nearly 24 hours in advance of the storms so people could prepare. Survey crews were expected to continue surveying damage and reports of possible tornadoes into Monday. |
