Pre-natal bill passes legislature, veto expected

Legislators have approved a prenatal bill, even though Governor Heineman has threatened to veto it. The bill passes on a 31-to-15 vote; one vote more than needed to override a veto. Senator Mike Gloor of Grand Island points out the child delivered in Nebraska by an illegal immigrant is a United States citizen. Senator Carlson of Holdredge agrees. The legislature returns next week to consider motions to override vetoes.
